Behind-the-scenes at the Opéra Bastille Paris

Before leaving Paris this summer, I had the opportunity to peek behind-the-scenes at the Opéra Bastille, guided by Andreea Soare, soprano member of the Opéra National de Paris at L’Atelier Lyrique program since 2011. I was so enthusiastic to discover the backstage facilities, the production stage set and the impressive performance of Aida, in which Andreea had to perform the role of Sacerdotessa.

Verdi's opera stage set was gilded, and so monumentally grand, featuring glamour ancient vestiges successfully updated to the contemporary age. The gilded tank was an unexpected surprise for me to see, and the imposingly mighty structures on stage were simply breathtaking! The design of the Egyptian costumes was equally impressive, especially since I had the opportunity to see Andreea all dressed-up for the performance.

Leaving behind the dramatically spectacular and original stage set of the performance, I was guided to the main auditorium. Here, the interior design was revealing itself modern and breathtaking with its glass ceiling and blue granite walls. This exciting exposure to the Opéra Bastille's back stage, the production and performance of Aida has been truly an amazing and inspiring experience. I can't wait for future opportunities to discover more of this amazing Opera House!

A Wild Summer Escape to Paris

Just with a few months before getting married, I flew to Paris for my first wedding dress fitting. My trip coincided with the European Football Championship, and the unfortunate terrorist attacks, and thus I found Paris distressed with a lot of military surveillance, but equally tourists. However, even with this palpable tension mumbling in the air, I found Paris to be, as always, a never-ending inspiration for me and my artistic practice. The weather has been wild, moody and rainy, or warm with sun bathing everything in pictorial colors.

My mother rented a beautiful apartment for us, with a view to the Eiffel Tour, so every morning this landmark was enchanting our sight, and every evening we were discovering a surprising, and always different, spectacle of lights. There is always something about that history, charm, and beauty that Paris holds, that one discovers, more and more, with every visit. The apartment's balcony that was givings us the Eiffel Tower's view served as a relaxing spot in the morning while drinking our coffee, and in the evening next to a glass of French wine, assortment of delicious cheese, and gourmet sweets.

Honestly, we truly felt experiencing a veracious Parisian life! A fast-forward hectic time with excellent food and breathtaking history at every step of the way. And as my dressmaking was progressing, so the weather, and the view of the Eiffel Tour that I couldn't resist to capture at all moments in all its beauty. But my story doesn't end here. I have more to share with you about Paristhe making of my unique wedding dress, a behind-the-scenes look at the Opera Bastille guided by the award-winning soprano Andreea Soare, and much more to come. Stay tuned!

Lyrical Exploration of Znojmo, Czech Republic

It's amazing how seasons and culture nourish the human spirit! Traveling asks of us to pay attention, to enjoy more, to forget about the daily life and open up our curiosity and love of life. I love discovering new places because it gives me that sense of being more present and seeing more of what is around me. It also cultivates my capacity for creative acts and elevates my spirit. And thus, seeing for the first time Znojmo, a marvelous historic town in the Moravia, South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic, incited me to start exploring the presence of history and calmness of this town.

Historically a fortress, Znojmo has a breathtaking panorama, aromatic wines and a lot of history. While here you must see the Saint Nicolas Church, the Town Hall tower, and the Dyje River valley and the medieval city walls, the Romanesque Rotunda, the Catacombs, and roam around the beautiful squares and narrow streets. Enjoy discovering all this in my film and photographs that explore the beauty of this medieval town.
